SpeakUp Got a Fresh New Look

We rebuilt every screen in SpeakUp. Same private, on-device dictation — it just looks and feels a lot better now.

A fresh new look

Onboarding, settings, the little recording pill — every screen got a redesign. Cleaner, calmer, easier to find your way around. Nothing moved that didn't need to; it's the same SpeakUp, just tidier.

Pick your microphone

You can now choose your input device straight from the menu bar — no digging through System Settings. Pin a specific mic and SpeakUp sticks with it. Unplug it (say you undock from a monitor) and it switches back to your system default automatically, so you're never left recording from a mic that's gone.

Cleaner transcriptions

We fixed a glitch where the start sound could occasionally sneak into your audio and show up as a phantom word. Start a session, stay quiet for a second, and you'll get silence — not a stray ".NET".

We also keep the on-device recognition current under the hood, so SpeakUp stays fast and reliable.

What hasn't changed

The important part:

• Faithful transcription. We type what you said — we don't rewrite it with AI.
